Sue K. Stout Franz passed away peacefully on October 27, 2015 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Lacey Stout, and a brother, Kenneth Stout, of Elizabethton, Tenn.
She is survived by her loving husband, Freddie Franz; one daughter, Lisa Franz Appleby; son-in-law, Craig Gilbertson; one grandchild, Joshua Appleby (Vicki Papinni); two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jayse Appleby, of Machesney Park, Ill.; and the extended Franz Family of Hidalgo, McAllen, and Pasadena, Texas.
Sue was born in Butler, Tenn., on February 7, 1943. She met her husband of 53 years while working in door to door sales. Later after the birth of her daughter, she and her husband found permanent work at Automatic Electric in Genoa, Ill., until her retirement.
Sue was a humble, frugal and hardworking woman with a deep religious faith. Despite her polio disability, she worked two jobs, that of a childcare-giver and a product unit inspector for 35 years, before retiring in 2000 when she and her husband moved to the City of Hidalgo. There they built and managed Freddie’s Apartments. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to Dr. Cooper, Dr. Melendez, and the ICU staff at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hidalgo.
