Jean Delores Whitehead Hammitt, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Hattie Whitehead.
Mrs. Hammitt was a retired CNA, having worked at Ivy Hall and other nursing homes in Elizabethton. She was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Hammitt, January 23, 2013; two sisters, Grace Whitehead and June Estep; and two brothers, Harlan and Donald Whitehead.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hilton, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tamila Harmon.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Victor and Judy Deloach, Joseph Taylor and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care that Jean received.
