Sycamore Springs hosted a veterans’ dedication ceremony honoring 12 veterans with a plaque, medals and certificates. Executive Director Rhonda Mitchell said through tears, “The debt we owe you can never be repaid. Here at Sycamore Springs, you don’t have to look to far to find a hero.” They sang familiar patriotic songs and songs from the various branches of the military, which all the residents and veterans thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of the ceremony, the veterans were presented with letters written by Happy Valley students, and one veteran stood up to say, “This is what makes it worthwhile — children taking the time to write us.”
