Wynona B. Holland

After many years of medical struggles, Wynona B. Holland, of Elizabethton, left this life on November 10, 2015 at the age of 82 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Wynona was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., the only daughter of the late Bert and Bonnie Barnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Holland; two brothers, Leslie H. and Robert Wayne Barnett; and an adopted son, Fred Chun.
She retired from Sycamore Shoals Hospital after 36 years of service as a Medical Technologist. Wynona loved her church family, and was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years. As a host mother for the Experiment in International Living, her loving spirit was felt by families all over the world.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Shelton, Johnson City; her son and caregiver, Joel Holland; grandchildren, Adam Shelton and wife Leslie, Molly Shelton, Ross Chun and Stefani Chun Allen and husband Christian; and her most beloved great-grandchildren, Lily and Joe Shelton.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Wynona B. Holland will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, November 13, at Immanuel Baptist Church of Elizabethton with Rev. Travis Biller and Rev. Tim Tapp officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Immanuel Baptist Church of Elizabethton at noon Saturday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Immanuel Baptist Church, 205 Hunter Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643; or to the Elizabethton Animal Shelter, P.O.
