Eunice Parlier Bowers Carr

Eunice Parlier Bowers Carr, 94, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at her residence. Eunice was born in Avery County, N.C., a daughter of the late Robert Conley and Lola Caroline McGuire Parlier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel M. Bowers; her second husband, Frank Carr; a son, Samuel Bowers Jr.; a granddaughter, Julie Seymore; a great-grandson, Isaac Bowers; two sisters, Ruby Carr and Shirley Johnson Grindstaff; and three brothers, Earl Parlier, Richard Parlier and Archie Parlier.
Eunice retired from Parks Belk Company and was a member of East River Park Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, gardening, crocheting and loved to work. In addition, she was a substitute teacher, President of the PTA for many years, and a Sunday School teacher.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Jerry Carr, Elizabethton; five daughters, Bobbi Range Leonard, Kingsport, Wilda Bowers Newman and husband Edward, Columbia, Md., Judy Seymore, Elizabethton, Karen Gilmore and husband Mark, Kernersville, N.C., and Kristi Carr, Elizabethton; seven grandsons, Ronald Range Jr., Richard Range, David Newman and Samuel Bowers III, Jonah Seymore, Joey Tipton and Alex Carr; seven great-grandchildren, Ronald Range III, Ryan Range, Rachel Range, Elijah Bowers, Macey Seymore, Ashlyn Seymore and Abigail Seymore; and four sisters, Betty Cox, Gate City, Va., Helen McDiffitt, Rayland, Ohio, Irene Reed and Carol McClelland, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Eunice Parlier Bowers Carr will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday, November 15, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. John Smith and Mr. Ken Overdorf, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kenneth Hartley and John Smith. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Parlier, Eddie Reed, Kevin Templeton, Tony Honeycutt, David Honeycutt, Steve Honeycutt, John Rominger, Jack Cole, Travis Blevins, Michael Claymon, Don Woods, Juan Villiaba, Phil Hennings, Pete Ledford, Donnie Kirby, Barton Edens, Tom Whitehead, Larry Miller, Shelby Miller, Herman O’Quinn, Eddie Taylor, Grady Fair, L.D. Adams and Tom Barker. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at noon Tuesday to go in procession.
