Lindberg Estep

Lindberg Estep, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Norton, Va., he was a son of the late Campbell and Grace Cryder Estep. He had lived in Elizabethton for several years.
Lindberg served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a BS degree in Education. He owned and operated Estep Coal Company for 67 years. He was active and a promoter of the Kings Mountain Toast Masters, and a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238. Prior to his illness, he served on several community committees.
Lindberg was a member and Deacon of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was active in the Youth Department. In the past he conducted church services at Hillview Health Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell “Benbo” Estep, and two sisters, Christalee Sheard and Yzettia Bowers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Zelda McKinney Estep; a son, Lindy Phillip Estep, Nashville; a daughter, Grace Estep Roberson and husband Joseph, Harrisburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Logan Estep and Holden Lindberg Roberson; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barney and Betty McKinney; two very beloved and dear caretakers who were truly family, Cindy Martin and Christial Kempson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Lindberg Estep will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, November 20, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Tapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde “Buck” Estep, Barney McKinney, Judge Richard Gray, Jack Buck, Josh Allen, Lonnie Pleasant, Mike Blevins, Tyrone Bowers, Todd Bowers, Crawford Alexander and all his friends at City Market.
