Eulace “Dick” Carter Jr., 70, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Eulace Carter Sr. and Zula Carr Carter.
Mr. Carter served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church. He loved to go camping and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Travis Carter, and a brother, Tony Carter.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Sue Oliver Carter; two daughters, Melissa Carter and Penny L. Carter, both of Elizabethton; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Faye Morris, Bluff City; three brothers, Ray Carter and wife Glenda, Ted Carter and wife Marcella and Carson Carter and wife Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Eulace “Dick” Carter Jr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. The graveside service and interment will be Wednesday, November 25, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be contacted. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Combs. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Avalon Hospice and Pro-Carrier-Caretaker Heather. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
