Shelby Jean McKinney Oliver, 78, of Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her loving family, and reunited with her husband on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James and Lora Hyder McKinney.
Shelby was employed at North American Rayon Corporation until it closed. She retired from Harris-Tarkett. Shelby was a member of Simerly Creek Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Louie Oliver; a great-grandchild, Cane Childress; and by eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Blevins, Elizabethton, and Tammy Clark and her husband Allen, Hampton; four grandchildren, Misty McCracken, Laura Childress and husband Adam, Jeff Clark and wife Brandy and Kristi Sanders and husband Kevin; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob McCracken, Miranda McCracken, Bredgitte Clawson, Brandon Childress, Lexi Clark, Cooper Sanders, Ava Sanders and Mia Sanders; a sister, Phyllis Wright and husband Len, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin McKinney and wife Jackie; and her sisters-in-law, Ruby Oliver, Shelby McKinney, Margaret McKinney and Letha McKinney.
Graveside services for Shelby Jean McKinney Oliver will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, at the McKinney Cemetery (Browns Branch Road), Hampton, with the Rev. Mark Street officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, will be Allen Clark, Kevin Sanders, Bob McClain, Jacob McCracken, Jeff Clark and Wesley Hess. Honorary pallbearers will be Theil McCracken, Greg McCracken, Wayne McClain, Len Wright and Frank Richardson. Friends may visit with the family at her residence.
