Eva Mae Gortney McGill

Eva Mae Gortney McGill, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Mitchell County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Monroe and Dora Robinson Gortney.
Mrs. McGill was a graduate of Tipton High School. She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was a homemaker and loved working in her flowers and cooking.
Mrs. McGill was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ben McGill; her children, David McGill and wife Marie, Chattanooga, Paul McGill and wife Margaret, Bristol, Robert McGill and wife Kristy, Kingsport, and Marie Blevins, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Benay Reilly, Lubbock, Texas, Sam Blevins and Brad McGill, both of Knoxville, Whitney McGill, Warner Robbins, Ga., and Conner Blevins, Elizabethton; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Maloree, Greysen, Kaylee and Tierney; two brothers, Earcle Gortney of Kentucky and Clarence Gortney of North Carolina; a sister, Alice Tipton of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and her little friend, Molly.
Funeral services for Mrs. McGill will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Keith Whitehead officiating. Music will be provided by Walter Hall and Angela Berry. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be David, Paul, Robert and Brad McGill, Eddie Morrell and Sam Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Blevins, Conner Blevins and Dylan Reno. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center and the staff of Pine Ridge Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care received. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. McGill to the Susan Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.
