Benita Barnett Bucher

Benita Barnett Bucher, 59, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.
Benita was a native of Carter County and a 1974 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker who loved and cherished her family and gardening. She was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Benita was preceded in death by her father, Willie Barnett Sr., and her brother, Willie Barnett Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, David Bucher; a son, Richard “Richie” Bucher, Elizabethton; her sisters, Barbara and Bill Maye, Unicoi, Brenda Stout, Erwin, Beverly Barnett, Chuckey, Bertie and Rocky Hodge, Betsy and Victor Delvaga and Bridgett Peeks, all of Elizabethton, and Becky and Bart Gardner, Jonesborough; her mother, Opal McGlaughlin Barnett, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Bucher will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Hobart Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers-in-law. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the staff of Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care Benita received.
