Some very excited children — and parents — are being helped out by an “angel” this Christmas season.
Cloudland High School counselor, Shellie McKinney, has been working tirelessly since Thanksgiving in order to help families in the Roan Mountain community have a better Christmas for their children.
McKinney, who is in her first year working at CHS, has been gathering presents for some children on the Angel Tree. A total of 108 children have been the recipients of her work this season.
In addition to gifts that were donated by people, local churches made some monetary donations toward purchasing items.
McKinney and her mother, Diane McKinney, a biology teacher at CHS, took those donations and did some shopping for the children.
“Members of this community, CHS teachers, Cloudland Elementary teachers, some central office personnel, local churches — all have been so generous,” said Shellie McKinney. “We appreciate their contributions and their kind hearts.”
The Roan Mountain community is truly blessed to have “angels” such as these in their midst.
