Martha Jean Vance Trivett

Martha Jean Vance Trivett, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015, at her residence.
A native of Avery County, N.C., she had lived most of her life in Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late Bill and Alta Hughes Vance.
Martha attended Elizabethton High School for three years and graduated from Crossnore High School, Crossnore, N.C. She was a homemaker and loved to sew and cook. She also loved her cats and dogs. She was a member of Borderview Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Meghan Collins.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jeter Maynard Trivett; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori Ann and Steven White, Elizabethton; her granddaughter, Torie Melton Brown and husband Jimmie; her grandson, Brandon Richard Melton; four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Bryson Melton and Natalie and Jacob Brown; her other special daughter, Dawana Rainbolt, Hampton; a step-grandson, Brandon White; seven step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy Townsend and Billie Miller, both of Bluff City, and Belva Tester and husband Harvey, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and several sisters and brothers-in-law in Pound, Va.
A graveside service for Mrs. Trivett will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 20, in the Hughes Cemetery, Newland, N.C., with her uncle, Rev. Hugh Hall, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Trivett to the Appalachian Animal Hospital or the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4255. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
