City residents report theft of Christmas decorations

In a scene straight out of a popular children’s Christmas movie, two city residents were recently visited by a thief who stole the holiday decorations right out of their yards.
On Dec. 13, a woman called 911 to report a theft at her home on Bradley Street. When Elizabethton Police Department Sgt. Shane Darling arrived at the home, the woman told him someone had stolen a “kaleidoscope” projection Christmas light in her front yard.
The kaleidoscope lights use LED lights to project light patterns onto the exterior walls of a home. Some of these special types of lights project a single color but other models display several colors and patterns.
About a week later, on Dec. 19, another city resident called to report a similar theft. This one occurred just a few streets over on Blevins Avenue.
The man who lives at that home told EPD Cpl. Jordan Ensor that when he walked outside that morning, he found 4 LED projections lights had been taken from his yard. The lights were valued at $50 each, the man told officers.
Officers of the police department are conducting extra patrols in the area and anyone seeing any suspicious activity is asked to contact police.
