Bill Odom, 82, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior during the morning of December 23, 2015. He departed this life from his home while surrounded by his family. Bill was born on Fork Mountain to the late Milburn and Grace Odom and remained in the area his entire life.
Bill served the U.S. Army and went on to work at North American Rayon. He retired after dedicating 44 years of his life to the factory. In his spare time, Bill loved to hunt, fish, tend his garden and spend time with his family. He was a very kind and simple man. Bill would give a stranger the shirt off his back if they needed it. He was a hardworking man that did everything he could to take care of his family. In July of 1976, Bill and his wife, the late Joyce Odom, donated land to Fork Mtn. Freewill Baptist Church and that is the church he attended.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce Ann Odom, and son, Ricky Bill Odom.
Those left here to cherish his memory are daughter, Theresa and husband, Jack; grandchildren, Candy Odom-Pickett and husband, Matt, Tracey Odom and Shannon Whitehead; special granddaughter, Alisha Whitehead (known to her Papaw as ‘My Girl’); great-grandchildren, Dayton Whitehead, Mason and Madison Buckles and Jacob and Zack Queen; sister-in-law, Peggy and her husband, Johnny Lewis; and special friends, Arnold Street, Stanley Largent, Bill Street, Sam and Ruth Edwards, J.L. Potter, Bud Smith, Sandy Potter and too many more to mention.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 26, from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church  with Pastor Brandon Young officiating. The graveside service will follow the service at Odom Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.snydersmemorialgardens.com.
