Maleigha Audrey Faith Blackwell, infant daughter of Andrea Jane Duncan and Derek Wade Blackwell, both of Elizabethton, was born on November 12, 2015 at UTMC in Knoxville, Tenn., and went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 19, 2015, due to a bone disease. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandma, Joan Duncan; her maternal grandpa, Kevin McKinney; and a special great-uncle, Gene Grindstaff; as well as her great-grandfather, Harland Banner.
Those left to cherish her sweet memory are her mother and dad, Andrea Jane Duncan and Coby Wilson, of Elizabethton; her biological father, Derek Blackwell; a brother, Mason Blackwell, of Elizabethton; her sister, McKenzie Blackwell, of Elizabethton; her maternal grandparents, Douglas Duncan, of Elizabethton, and Sheila McKinney, of Roan Mountain; her maternal great-grandparents, Rev. Carl Grindstaff and Jane Grindstaff, of Elizabethton; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Dawn Duncan, of Stoney Creek; her paternal grandma, Jeanne and Joey Garland, of Hampton; her paternal grandpa, Tim Blackwell, of Roan Mountain; her paternal great-grandma, Jean Hodge, of Hampton; her paternal great-grandparents, Bobby and Brenda Blackwell, of Roan Mountain; and a special uncle, Landon Duncan, of Roan Mountain. Lots of nieces, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will hold a celebration of Maleigha’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 26, at East Fairview Freewill Baptist Church with her uncle, Rev. Paul Ray Grindstaff, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. A private disposition will be held at a later date.
