Douglas Caldwell

Douglas Caldwell, 72, of Erwin, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was a native of Dorton, Ky., and a son of the late Jack and Gladys Anders Caldwell.
Mr. Caldwell was a retired U.S. Army veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam. He had worked in security for Mountain States Health Alliance, most recently for Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Jason Caldwell and his wife, Rhonda, of Erwin; a brother, Tommy Caldwell and his wife, Bea, of Unicoi; a grandson, Jay Caldwell; a granddaughter, Katie Caldwell; and a step-grandson, Justin Howard.
Funeral services for Mr. Caldwell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 28, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the service hour, and other times at the home of his son, Jason, 244 Creek Road, Erwin, TN 37650. Graveside services with full Military Honors will be held in the Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 29. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:20 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to all of Jason’s friends and co-workers at Specialty Tires of America and Mr. Caldwell’s friends and co-workers at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
