Cindy Birchfield

Cindy Birchfield, 42, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of William “Bill” Hensley and Doris Bennett Hensley of Erwin and was born on March 19, 1973.
Cindy was a member of Blevins Chapel Church in Roan Mountain. She was a teacher at Cloudland High School where she loved all of the students and faculty. Cindy was an avid sports mom who enjoyed watching her children play ball.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 22 years, Randy Birchfield, of the home; three children, Colby Birchfield, Conner Birchfield and Leah Birchfield, all of the home; one brother, Bill Hensley and his wife, Brandy, of Elizabethton; a brother-in-law, Matt Birchfield and his wife, Kerri, of Elizabethton; two nieces, Kenzie Birchfield and Kendall Birchfield, both of Elizabethton; two nephews, Kade Hensley and Kellen Hensley, both of Elizabethton; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Eloise Birchfield, of Roan Mountain.
A service to celebrate Cindy’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Israel Hughes and Pastor Rick Birchfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 10, in the Birchfield Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bill Hensley, Matt Birchfield, Bill Birchfield, Darrel Birchfield, Mark Houston, Sam Potter, Ned Smith and Brandon Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Denton Birchfield, Dallas Birchfield, Faculty and Staff of Cloudland High School, Cloudland High School Football Team, Cloudland High School Basketball Team, Cloudland Jr. High Boys and Girls Basketball Teams and Cloudland Jr. High Football Team. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
