Vinita Lunsford Anderson Dial

Vinita Lunsford Anderson Dial, 93, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016. She was born on June 3, 1922, in Greenville, S.C., and moved to Knoxville as a young child where she attended school and graduated from Carter High School in 1941.
She attended the University of Tennessee and married Nathan Anderson in 1942. Following Mr. Anderson’s return to civilian life after World War II, they resided in Elizabethton, Tenn., for 50 years.
During her years in Elizabethton, she owned and operated the Four Seasons School of Hair Design for several years. She was also active in the Elizabethton Choral Club, the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the Calvary Baptist Church.
She moved back to Knoxville in the early 1990s after her husband and daughter passed away to be close to other members of the family. She had been a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and in recent years was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence and Leona Lunsford; daughter, Sharon Anderson Howard; brothers, Sanford, Acle, Mack and Charles; and sisters, Evelyn Kennemore and Callie Cagle.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Dial of Farragut; brother, Jessie Lunsford of Baneberry; and sister, Dorothy Lunsford Carroll of Seymour.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church on Strawberry Plains Pike. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Dr. Bruce L. Martin, Pastor, officiating. The family will reconvene at 3 p.m. for entombment at Berry Highland South on Simpson Road.
