Ila Mae Tester

Ila Mae Tester, 79, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Tester was born in Johnson County to the late Daniel and Dovie Holden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, James Tester, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Tester was a homemaker and a member of Fish Springs Baptist Church. She was also a former member of the Big Springs Quartet.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Brenda Cooper, of Elizabethton; two sons, David Tester and wife Pam and Jeff Tester, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Hazel Vines, of MI, and Sue Laws and husband Edward, of Butler; and two brothers, Bill Holden and wife Helen, of Hampton, and James Holden and wife Sue, of Boone, N.C. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Ila Mae Tester will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 14, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Special music will under the direction of “The Sounds of Victory.” The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The committal service will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
