VALDESE, N.C. — Mrs. Sharon Diane Stanton Sheets, 63, of Hickory, went home to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Catawba Regional Hospice, following a period of declining health.
Diane was born on November 19, 1952 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Charlie Houston Stanton and Evelyn Clawson Stanton. She was a member of Refuge Baptist Church in Hickory and was previously employed in the furniture industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sgt. Major Charles Stanton, and a nephew, Charles Stanton II.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Sheets, of the home; two daughters, Angel Crawley and husband Kevin of Nebo and Martha S. Henson of Connelly Springs; one son, Fred Sheets, of the home; a sister, Darlene Layton of Newberry, S.C.; and a brother, Jimmy Stanton of Gulfport, Miss. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, James Ashe and wife Leah, Timothy Ashe and wife Chelsey, Ashley Traxler, Joseph Henson, Natalie Henson, Isaiah Sheets and Hannah Sheets; three great-grandchildren, Emma Ashe, Ryder Lee Byrd and Mason Traxler; extended family, Scott Bolin, Andy Price and Vivian Ledford; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 5, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Ernest Bartley and Rev. Bill Ashe officiating.
