Evelyn Thelma Thurman, 34, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center, following an extended illness. Evelyn was a native of Carter County and a daughter of Evelyn Privette Cole, of the home, and the late Bill Cole.
Evelyn was a homemaker and attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She enjoyed music, fishing, spending time with her children, traveling and being outdoors.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Blake Thurman, of the home, Brittany Thurman and Brooke Thurman, both of Elizabethton; two sisters, Shirley Cole and Angela Dykes, both of Elizabethton; three brothers, Jeffery Cole, Wayne Cole and Billy Cole, all of Elizabethton; and her fiancé, Bret Rogers, of Johnson City.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Evelyn Thelma Thurman will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, January 23, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 24, in the Cole Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Tetrick Funeral Home, 211 N. Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643, to help with final expenses.
