Kathy Hawks Wells, 58, of Watauga, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at her residence.
Kathy was born February 25, 1957 in Washington County. She graduated from Frederick High School, Frederick, Md. She had lived in Carter County for the past 15 years. She attended Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Claude Samuel Hawks Jr.
Survivors include two children, John Wells, of the home, and Melissa Gorman and husband of Honolulu, Hawaii; her grandson, Elijah Gorman; her mother and step-father, Peggy and Gary Burgess, Watauga; two sisters, Tammy Brooks and husband L.B. and Heather Burgess, all of Elizabethton; and a brother, Sonny Hawks, Watauga.
Funeral services for Kathy Hawks Wells will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 29, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Hartley officiating. Interment will follow in the Patton-Simmons Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Allen Weaver, Mark Patton, Billy Cordell and Gerald Proffitt. Honorary pallbearers will be L.B. Brooks and Sonny Hawks. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Carmen and Jerry of Amedisys Hospice.
