Cynthia Lynnette Grindstaff Holsclaw

Cynthia Lynnette Grindstaff Holsclaw, 76, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at her residence, following a brief illness. Cynthia was born in Carter County on April 18, 1939, a daughter of the late James E. “Buster” Grindstaff and Salley Elliott Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Grindstaff.
Cynthia retired from Hermitage Health Care, where she cared for others as a certified nursing assistant. She was also a licensed beautician and was of the Baptist faith. She attended Pleasant Beach Baptist Church of Elizabethton and enjoyed gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Angela Webb of Johnson City, Jay Holsclaw of Elizabethton, Don Holsclaw and wife Ali of Charlotte, N.C., and Genine Holsclaw of Johnson City; her siblings, Roy Grindstaff of Deltona, Fla., Fred H. Grindstaff and Marilyn Isaacs and husband Bobby, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Brad, Drew and Jayla Holsclaw, all of Elizabethton, and Hannah and Holly Holsclaw, both of Charlotte, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren.
A service to honor the life of Cynthia Lynnette Grindstaff Holsclaw will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 29, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ray Amos Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Holsclaw, Don Holsclaw, Brad Holsclaw and Drew Holsclaw. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, TN 37604 or any charity dealing with blood donations, in honor of Cynthia.
