Eddie Mark Coleman

Eddie Mark Coleman, 65, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Pine Ridge Care Center, following a brief illness. Eddie was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Edgar John Coleman Jr. and Margie Bell Davenport Coleman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ed and Flora Pierce Coleman, and his maternal grandparents, Frank “Red” and Ossie Davenport.
Eddie retired from Levi Strauss and Company and was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of Roan Street Freewill Baptist Church and loved going to church. He enjoyed going to car shows and he also showed his own cars in the past. Before he retired due to his health, he raised and showed beagle dogs and loved going camping and going places with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sisters, Diane Shell and husband Andrew, Kay Thomas and husband Gary, and Ruth “Blossom” Coleman, all of Elizabethton; one brother, Frankie Coleman and wife Devonna, of Elizabethton; and an aunt, Phyllis Davenport, also of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews, along with his special friends, Carl and Janie Grindstaff, Richard Roberson and Jerry Emmert, also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Coleman will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, January 29, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Tim Gouge and Rev. Doug Hinshaw officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bobby Woods Jr. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The committal and entombment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Chris Roberson, Nick Shell, Jacob Street, Keith Davenport, Richard Davenport, Gary Leonard and Tony Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends of Roan Street Freewill Baptist Church, Mark Triplett, Harold Hicks and Steve Davenport. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Pine Ridge Care Center and Rehab for the love and care shown to Eddie during his illness.
