Phyllis Thirza Gouge

Phyllis Thirza Gouge (Coville) (Harrison), formerly of East Wareham, Mass., and Sarasota, Fla., and currently of 102 Reece Hill Road, Hampton, Tenn., died on Monday, January 25, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. She was born in Onset, Mass., on January 14, 1926 to the late James and Thirza Coville.
She was previously married to the late Walter N. Harrison of Sagamore, Mass. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Coville of Onset, Mass.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Jennings Brian Gouge of Hampton, Tenn.; two sisters, Claire J. McWilliams and husband Tuey of Wareham, Mass., and Vivian L. Gallerani and husband Donald (Scup) of Onset, Mass.; brother, James Coville and wife Muriel of Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Lynne C. Anderson of Sandwich, Mass., and Paula L. Millet and husband Richard of Bridgewater, Mass. She has four grandchildren, Carl W. Anderson and wife Kara of Sandwich, Mass., Michelle L. Selens and husband Jeff of Centerville, Mass., Eric Millet and wife Amanda of Raynham, Mass., and Daniel Millet of San Diego, Calif. She leaves four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Lillian Anderson and Zachary and Owen Selens; two step-children, Alan K. Gouge and wife Mindy and their son Cory J. of Indiana, and Kathryn J. Aden and husband Scott of California; and also many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a 1944 graduate of Wareham High School. She was an employee of the Buzzards Bay National Bank (Cape Cod Bank & Trust) for 25 years prior to retirement. She then worked with her husband at ACE TV and Royal Video in East Wareham and Bourne, Ma., for many additional years. She was co-owner of High & Dry Storage and Rental in East Wareham, Mass.
Phyllis loved their homes in Wareham, Mass., Hampton, East Tenn., and Sarasota, Fla. Phyllis as a young mother participated as a Brownie and Girl Scouts of America leader. She also served on the Bourne Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years.
Phyllis was interested in and was very accomplished at all types of needle and hand-work and began doing water colors and oil paintings when she was 82 years of age. She loved her husband and their families and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 30, at Sunset FWB Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset FWB Church, 6676 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, TN. Online condolences may be sent to the family www.eastlawnkingsport.com.
