Billy Jack Arnett, 70, of Morganton, N.C., passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. Born in Carter County, Tenn., on August 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Tate Arnett and Georgia Hopson Arnett.
Billy retired from Southern Devices and enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. He was not just a mentor and loving father to his daughters, he was their hero. He was a loving pawpaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even though he walks in heaven with the Lord now, he will always be remembered here on Earth.
Mr. Arnett is survived by his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Waycaster Arnett, of the home; daughters, Donna Kay Randolph, Tina Arnett Hampton and her husband, David, Billie Jo “B.J.” Arnett and her fiancé, Gregg Woody, Charline Arnett and her fiancé, Travis Williams, and Darline Arnett Martinez and her husband, Jason; a son, Kenny Roper; grandchildren, Chris, Chelsey and Brandon Randolph, Ian Arnett, Joseph Kenneth Arnett-Roper and Brittney Edwards; great-grandchildren, Anthony Randolph, Daisy Randolph and Kaylynn Edwards; and brothers, Charles “Buster,” Tony and James Arnett.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Hopson and Robert Arnett; sisters, Pauline, Katie and Betty Arnett; a grandson, Tony Conway Duckworth Jr.; and a son-in-law, Scott Allen Randolph.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., Thursday, February 4, at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Charlie Crump officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the residence on Pollard Avenue, Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O.
