Sherry Lynn Babb

Sherry Lynn Babb, 52, of Hampton, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness. Sherry was a native of Carter County and the daughter of Grace Johnson Wagner, of Hampton, and the late Larry Hathaway. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Paul Hathaway.
Sherry had worked at North American Rayon Corporation and attended Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to antique auctions and her two dogs, Coco and Cutie. Most of all she loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Jackson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Mindy Brown, of Johnson City; her son, Reverend Jonathan Babb, of Hampton; her mother and stepfather, Grace and Larry Wagner, of Hampton; her grandson, Jackson Brown, of Johnson City; and her maternal grandparents, Omar “Wilt” and Texie Johnson, of Roan Mountain.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Sherry Lynn Babb will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday, February 14, at Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Johnson and Pastor Mark Potter officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Valley Forge Praise Choir. The family will receive friends at the church from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Monday, February 15, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rev. Josh Carr, Rev. David Martin, Rev. Jake Johnson, Rev. Hunter Greene, John Moore and David Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be her school family at Hunter Elementary School, members of the Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church, and her many friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Monday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to a memorial fund in memory of Sherry, C/O Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
