Kathleen Gouge, 95, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers and her husband of 58 years, John B. Gouge, and a daughter, Diane Gouge Pearson.
Mrs. Gouge retired from Inter Mountain Telephone Company. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church where she taught the Ambassadors for Christ Sunday School Class for 48 years, helped teach Vacation Bible School and helped publish and edit the first Sinking Creek Baptist Church Directory.
She will be remembered for her love for the Bible and the many greeting cards sent to those in the hospital and Christmas cards with her favorite Scripture verse to cheer the sick and make the Christmas season joyful in Christ and his birth. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and golf fan.
Survivors are her daughter, Linda Gouge Knopp, Lake St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Ron Pearson; and her special friends, Paulette Harris and Vickie Gouge.
Graveside services for Kathleen Gouge will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, February 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Reece Harris officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
