Richard Hoon “Red” Harmon, 67, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Arliss and Mary Harmon.
Mr. Harmon was a Certified Mechanic. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lou Harmon; a son, Joshua William Harmon; and a brother, Jimmy Dugger.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Sherry Elliott Harmon; his children, Lorraine Austin and husband Jamie, Jonesborough, Tammy Fitzgerald and husband John, Elizabethton, Tara Harmon, Johnson City, Kim Cable and husband Tony Denmark, Jasper, Ga., Chris Cable and Sharay Russell and husband Jonathan Grindstaff, all of Elizabethton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luella Greenwell and Barbara Nunley; and two brothers, Ricky and Ronnie Harmon.
Funeral services for Richard Hoon “Red” Harmon will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, February 22, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, will be Chris Cable, Nicholas Cable, John Grindstaff, John Fitzgerald, Earl Stone and Jacob Austin. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the Harmon family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
