Robert Elmer “Bug” Ensor

Robert Elmer “Bug” Ensor, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Robert Cecil and Cora Ellen Gentry Ensor.
Mr. Ensor was a 1957 graduate of Unaka High School. He was also a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theology Seminary with a degree in Music & Religion Education. He was retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He served in the Vietnam Era.
Robert was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. He loved writing poetry and sharing his gift with others. He also loved music and working with children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Raymond Ensor; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Van and Jewell Edwards; and a sister-in-law, Elaine.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Frank Ensor; three brothers, Howard Ensor and wife Jewel, C.L. “Chug” Ensor and wife Laurie and Ernest “Pete” Ensor and wife Kathy; three sisters, Marie Oxendine and husband Tom, Ruby Corder and Lynda Kaye Vaughn and husband Tom; his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Ensor, Nyoka Ensor and Evelyn Beschke; a brother-in-law, Robert Edwards; and an uncle, Frank Gentry and wife Evelyn. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Robert Elmer “Bug” Ensor will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be provided by Larry Adams, the Lynn Valley Baptist Church and Cathy Wilson. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in the Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, will be Kevin Vaughn, Tommy Vaughn, Jason Ensor, Ronnie Ensor, Michael Ensor, John Corder and Chris Corder. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Green, Pastor Bobby Stout, the men of Lynn Valley Baptist Church, Fred Jenkins, the Football Team and the Class of 1957 of Unaka High School and Carlton H. Conaway. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Robert to the Building Fund, Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
