Evelyn Carpenter Hampton, 88, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Regency Center of Louisville after an extended illness.
A native of Corbin, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Luther and Lila Ruth Carpenter.
Mrs. Hampton had lived in Elizabethton for a number of years. She was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Hampton, who died February 9, 2007; her brothers, Edward, Wayne and Ralph Carpenter; and a sister, Dora Barton.
Survivors include her daughter, Shelia Fincher (Darrell); a grandson, Stephen Fincher; a sister, Janette Curry; a brother-in-law, D.H. Hampton (Barbara); and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Evelyn Carpenter Hampton will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
