Betty Jean Barnett, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016, at her residence. Betty was born in Buncombe County, N.C., to the late Daniel Boone Nanney and Letty Ledbetter Nanney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Barnett; her sister, June Hodge; and her brother, Joe Nanney.
Betty had worked in the collections department of Carter County Bank.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Don Nanney and John Nanney, both of Elizabethton, and Joe Nanney, of Newport; seven grandchildren, Austin Nanney, Paige Nanney, Emilee Nanney, Joey Nanney, Olivia Nanney, Madison Nanney and Elisha Nanney; a brother, Dan Nanney, of Elizabethton; and one nephew, David Nanney, of Elizabethton.
It was Betty’s wishes to be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Carter County Humane Society, P.O.
