When the Easter Bunny hops into town this weekend he won’t need a jacket, but if he decides to hang around after church on Sunday he might want to bring an umbrella just in case.
The forecast for the holiday weekend calls for warm weather with a slight chance of rain Sunday afternoon, said Meteorologist Glenn Carrin with the National Weather Service in Morristown.
“There might be a chance for some clouds and light precipitation on Friday morning,” Carrin said. “By the afternoon though things will begin to clear up.”
The high today is expected to climb into the mid-60s before dropping into the mid-30s tonight.
“Saturday looks like it’s going to be a good day,” Carrin said. “Saturday will be a lot of sunshine.”
The high for Saturday is predicted to reach around 70 degrees.
Holiday events planned for Saturday — like picnics or Easter egg hunts — should enjoy lovely warm weather.
Saturday night will be mostly clear and temperatures will drop into the mid-40s according to the forecast.
Sunday morning is expected to begin much like Saturday.
“Sunday will have some clouds and possibly some showers as the next weather system begins to move in,” Carrin said. “As
we move on into Sunday we might see some rain chances moving in during the afternoon.”
The high is supposed to climb into the lower 70s on Sunday afternoon. Carrin said the chance for rain showers on Sunday afternoon is between 20-30 percent, mainly after 2 p.m.
Easter Sunday events like Sunrise Services and the famed Peters Hollow Egg Fight should have good weather in the early part of the day on Sunday but Carrin said as the day progresses the chance for rain or showers will increase.
“It will be Sunday night when the best chance of rain occurs,” he said.
While the chance for rain is small on Sunday afternoon, the Easter Bunny, along with those attending the Peters Hollow Egg Fight, would do well to be prepared and bring that umbrella along and leave battling the odds to the competitors in the Egg Fight.
