The front of the home at 1116 Rittertown Road went up in flames just before 5 p.m. Wednesday. A neighbor called 911, and a quick response from Hampton Volunteer Fire Department, Carter County Sheriff’s Office, Carter County Rescue Squad and Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department kept it from spreading to the back of the house.
Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Malone said the cause is undetermined. He said no one was home when the fire sparked but the homeowners were on scene not long after it was reported.
The flames were knocked down in about a half hour, but emergency responders were on scene for over an hour.
Malone said that to their knowledge, no person or pet was injured.
