Velma Louise Huskins McKinney

Velma Louise Huskins McKinney, 80, of Hampton, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Born September 29, 1935 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Lena Keplinger Huskins.
Velma was a graduate of Unicoi County High School. She had lived in Hampton since 1964. She was retired from Work Wear, Erwin, Tenn., after 35 years of service and was a member of the Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland D. McKinney.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry McKinney and Lena McKinney, both of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Savanah Gobble, of the home, Ryan Peters and Mallory McKinney Blackburn, both of Elizabethton; one great-grandson, J.B. Highsmith, Hampton; one brother, Lynn (Linda) Huskins, Erwin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Velma Louise Huskins McKinney will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Holtsclaw officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, in the McKinney Family Cemetery, Pine Grove Road, Hampton. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday, will be Ed Morton, Tim Willis, Vaughn Simerly Jr., Jonathan Morton, John L. McKinney and Chris Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd McKinney, her church family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the rehab nurses at Hillview Health Center, Lori McKinney Watson, Angel Carter and the doctors and nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
