JoAnn Rash, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Holston Valley Medical Center, following an extended illness. JoAnn was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Worley Milburn Nave Sr. and Bonnie Stout Nave. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Worley Nave Jr. and James Nave, and two infant twin siblings.
JoAnn was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church and a previous member of Hunter First Baptist Church. She loved all her church family of both churches and was a faithful helper with the AWANA program. Most of all she was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Lindsay Rash II and wife Tammy, of Elizabethton; her daughter, Linda McClure and husband Mitchell, of Elizabethton; three grandsons, Andrew Rash, of Seattle, Ezekiel McClure and Josh Jones, both of Elizabethton; two great-granddaughters, Kaydence Carroll and Kennedy Jones, both of Elizabethton; her sisters, Dorothy Lett and Della Duvall (her best friend), both of Elizabethton; and a special sister-in-law, Patricia Rash, of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of JoAnn Rash will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Rusty Verran officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her son or daughter at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Josh Jones, Andrew Rash, Zeke McClure, Guy Horne, Gary Claymon and Billy Rash. Honorary pallbearers will be her church families and her neighbors and friends of Blue Springs and Siam Communities. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her minister, Pastor Bill Davis, who is currently on a mission trip in the Philippines.
