Carmen Esther Davies Hyder

Carmen Esther Davies Hyder, 68, of Hampton, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, at her residence.
A native of Rhinelander, Wis., she was a daughter of the late Lee and Ila Mae Pederson Davies. She had lived in Florida for a number of years before moving to Carter County 27 years ago.
Carmen was a graduate of Riviera Beach High School, Riviera Beach, Fla., and a former employee of Stegall Pottery in Erwin. She was of the Methodist Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Hyder, who died July 13, 2015, and a grandson, Caleb Shane Craig.
Survivors include a daughter, Kellie Leigh Craig, and son-in-law, Shane Craig, of the home; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Craig; several step-grandchildren; and the family of her daughter, Fred Nunley.
Graveside services for Carmen Esther Davies Hyder will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Hyder Cemetery (Piney Grove) with the Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
