Glenda Rhea Fortner DeVault Hall, 70, of Johnson City, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Glenda was a native of the Siam community in Elizabethton. She was a daughter of the late Rhudy A. and Mamie Estep Fortner.
Glenda was a lifelong member of Horseshoe Free Will Baptist Church.
Glenda was loved by all who met her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to so many, proving you don’t have to be blood to be family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Hall; son, James Paul DeVault; sister, Irene Shurling; and brothers, David, Larry, Worley, Lloyd and Jimmy Fortner.
Survivors include five children, Linda Gail Carrera, Teresa Rhea Davis (Steven), Justin Eugene DeVault, Kathy Lee (Don), Joy Thacker and JD Loveland; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Marie Carrera, Matthew Eugene Carrera, Dakoda Carrera, Michael Bales (Katie), Kristen N. Bales, Amber Ruth DeVault, James Patrick, James Connor DeVault, Brandon Britt, Jacqueline Quillen (Nick) and Russ Thacker; 14 great-grandchildren, Mamie Marie, Jacoby Kyle, Jonathon Thomas, Mary Katherine, Nakoda Nevaeh, Waylon James, Logan, Evan, Kayla, Katie, Natalie, Vivian, Maggie and Lisa; two brothers, Bruce and Earnest Fortner; one sister, Fannie Mae Gosnell; special sister-in-law, Trula Bell Fortner; cherished lifelong friend, Charlene Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Glenda Hall will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. Thursday. A committal is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Please meet at Morris-Baker by 1 p.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the Hall family via www.morrisbaker.com.
