Mary Evelyn Pierce Williams, 81, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Armstrong and Grace Smith Pierce.
Mrs. Williams was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and the Always Ready Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John E. Williams, who died February 27, 2011; a half sister, Georgia Blanche Grindstaff; and two brothers, James O. and Guerney Pierce.
Survivors include two daughters, Starr Lowe and husband Tim, Elizabethton, and Sandra Williams, Johnson City; two sons, Matthew Williams and wife Madeline and Johnny Williams, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Patsy Stout, Gray; four brothers, Rhonda Pierce and wife Shirley, Hampton, Lawrence Pierce and wife Pauletta, Dean Pierce and wife Loretta and Dallas Pierce and wife Carolyn, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Jamie Amer and Jessica Harr, Johnny Scott Williams and Makenzie Williams; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sisters-in-law, Myrtle Pierce, Wanda Pierce and Shirley Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Pierce Williams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Taylor and the Rev. Willie Lunsford officiating. Music will be provided by Mike Williams. Graveside services and interment will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday, May 9, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care she received. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
