Rev. Charlie Miller Jr., 67, of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from Johnson City Medical Center. Charlie was born in Middlesboro, Ky., to the late Charles Miller Sr. and Catherine Welch Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Carol Ann Miller, on August 15, 2012.
Charlie retired as a minister and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church, where he was also the minister for 10 years. He had 45 years of ministry service in many area churches. He was a United States Marine veteran and enjoyed fishing and making fishing rods and lures.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Bryan Miller and wife, Tammy Hamm, Elizabethton; a daughter, Briana Gardner and husband, Michael, Bluff City; six grandkids, Carl Gardner, Bluff City, Amy Crowder, Bristol, Amber Johnson, Johnson City, David Gardner, Bristol, Va., and Derek Hamm and Bryan Hamm, both of Elizabethton; four great-grandkids, Anna Gardner, Jaylyn Gardner, Takoda Crowder and Colby Hamm; and his companion, Velma Walker, Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of Rev. Charlie Miller Jr. will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Toonie Cash officiating. Music will be provided by Patsy Nelson and B.J. Dishner. Friends may call at the residence of his son, Bryan, at anytime. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Johnston, Dale Morton, Mack Cooke and all his buddies at the fishin’ hole. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of ICU at Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Brian Mason. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Big Springs Baptist Church, 171 Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
