Mary Alice Smith Stanfield

Mary Alice Smith Stanfield, 94, of the Chinquapin Grove community in Bluff City, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Gus and Audrey Lee Smith.
Mrs. Stanfield was a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clarence Stanfield; her daughter, Janet Overbay; and her sisters, Gladys Glover, Eva Theo Bartley and Irene Lowrie.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Stephen Stanfield and wife Judy of Bluff City; a grandson, Joshua Overbay and wife Ginny; a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Lee; a granddaughter, Jessica Overbay; her three sisters, Juanita Riley, Helen Galloway and husband Dr. J.M. Galloway and Joyce Blaylock and husband Asa; and a special friend, Cookie Saylor.
A service to celebrate the life of Mary Alice Smith Stanfield will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, 1727 Chinquapin Grove Road, Bluff City, with Rev. Jamie Ferguson, Rev. Rusty Verran and Rev. Jerry Lowrie officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Greg Greene. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at her residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City. Active pallbearers will be Greg Greene, Randy Morris, David Montgomery, David Bartley, Barry Mounts and Don Friesland. Honorary pallbearers will be J.M. Galloway and Asa Blaylock. Everyone will meet at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 1727 Chinquapin Grove Road, Bluff City, TN 37618.
