Mary Lou Smith Laws

Mary Lou Smith Laws, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Carl Edgar and Retha Harmon Smith.
Mrs. Laws was a graduate of Hampton High School and a retired restaurant worker. She was a member of Hampton Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Laws; a brother, Roland Smith and wife Cathy; a sister, Irene Pierce and husband Carroll; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Smith.
Survivors include her children, Steven E. Laws and wife Karen, New Orleans, La., Michael E. Laws and wife Sue, Elizabethton, and Patricia Bennett and husband Richard, Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Frank Smith, Knoxville; a sister, Helen Teague and husband Walter, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Mary Lou Laws will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Hampton Christian Church with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Mr. Dennis Pierce and Mr. Randy Carrier, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, % Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
