Elsie H. McKinney, 92, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Mary Jane Wilson Harrison and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Dean Crowe, and by four brothers and one sister.
Mrs. McKinney was a lifetime member of Sims Hill Christian Church
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Clarence E. “Mac” McKinney, of the home; one son, Keith McKinney of Stanley, Kansas; two daughters, Gertrude Butler of McHenry, Ill., and Mary Jo Porter of Olathe, Kansas; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beulah Wiseman of Elizabethton.
A service to celebrate the life of Elsie H. McKinney will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Bret Jones, minister, officiating. Music will be under direction of Linda Henry, choir director, and the Sims Hill Christian Church Choir. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men of Sims Hill Christian Church and other friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Sims Hill Christian Church, 206 Sims Hill Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
