Margaret J. Ward, 75, of Hampton, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Earl and Rosie Guy Dugger and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Ward; two daughters, Kimberly Annette Ward and Kitty Renee Braswell; three sisters, Shelby Lunceford, Barbara Ratcliff and her last sibling, Anna Lee Ward; and also her step-father, Harvey Joyner.
Margaret loved to sing, garden, cook, visit yard and estate sales and spend time with her family, whom she loved and enjoyed. She was retired from Norris Industries and was a member of Hampton Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Greg Ward, of the home; a grandson, Dylan Gregory Ward, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Ciara Kimberly Ward, Hampton; and two great-granddaughters, Kylie Elizabeth Ward, Johnson City, and Addison McNeil, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Margaret J. Ward will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Hawk and the Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dylan Gregory Ward, Richard Lunceford, Cody Marsillett and others selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dexter Lunceford, Carolyn Marshall, Margaret Presnell and Betty Cole. Family and friends may meet at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
