Nannette “Nancy” Tipton Divine

Nannette “Nancy” Tipton Divine, 86, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from Cornerstone Village in Johnson City. Nancy was born in Elizabethton on September 11, 1929 to the late Albert Carter Tipton and Nannette Phillips Tipton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nannette Rebori, and a brother, James Phillips Tipton.
Nancy was a cum laude graduate of Carson-Newman College in 1950. She retired as an educator and had also been employed as a dental hygienist. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton and enjoyed singing soprano in the church choir. She loved all music, especially church music and opera.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Betty Divine of Houston, Texas, and Robert and Stacy Divine of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; a son-in-law, John Rebori of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Albert Carter Tipton Jr. and wife Vera of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren, Nicholas Rebori, Leigh Chadwick, Megan French, Anna Poteat and Luke Divine; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Frank Luke Curde of Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of Nannette “Nancy” Tipton Divine will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Raymond Amos Sr. officiating. Music will be provided by the First United Methodist Church Choir. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
