A Carter County woman faces charges after police say she called 911 and made a false report regarding an assault and drug activity.
Officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ashley Johnson, 29, of 210 Carl Smith Road, No. 3, Hampton, on Saturday and charged her with filing a false report and misuse of 911.
On Saturday morning just before 10 a.m., deputies with the Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Sunny Acres in the Valley Forge Community regarding a report of a domestic altercation. While officers were en route to the call, dispatchers at 911 told those responding that the caller said her mother was smoking marijuana.
“Upon arrival I made contact with the caller, Ashley Dawn Johnson, and determined there was no domestic altercation,” CCSO Sgt. Brian Durham said. “Ms. Johnson Stated that she had become upset at her mother and called 911 and told them her mother was smoking marijuana. Ms. Johnson stated that she knew, in fact, that her mother was not smoking marijuana at the time of the call.”
Durham arrested Johnson and transported her to the Carter County Detention Center.
Johnson appeared in Carter County General Sessions Court on Monday where Judge Keith Bowers Jr. set her bond at $1,000 and scheduled her to return to court on August 8.
