Terry W. Miller, 79, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2016, from Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Terry was born in Carter County to the late Willie and Mary Murray Miller.
Terry was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, Class of 1955. He worked as a barber for over 53 years and was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church. Terry was a member and past Master of Hampton Masonic Lodge #750 F&AM and an honorary member of Watauga Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and eating and fellowship with his friends at the old Bus Station and Hardee’s.
Those left to cherish Terry’s memory include his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Patsy Davenport Miller, of the home; his daughter, April Lloyd and husband Jason, of Elizabethton; and two grandchildren – his grandson, Nathanael Lloyd, and his granddaughter, Hannah Lloyd, both of Elizabethton. Several cousins also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Terry W. Miller will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, July 25, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Bret Jones, minister, and Pastor Jamie Ferguson officiating. Music will be provided by Patty Hodge. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating. Active pallbearers will be Shelby Miller, Larry Miller, Mack Henry, Dennis Guinn, Aaron Lloyd and Robert Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Hodge, John D. Snyder, Alan Jarrett, Bill Hampton, Luther Arrowood, Mac Merritt, Dick Fair, all of his Masonic Lodge brothers, his many friends and customers over the years and his church family. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd Floor ICU Nurses and Staff at Franklin Woods Community Hospital, especially Miss Phyllis. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Building Fund at Sims Hill Christian Church, 206 Sims Hill Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or the Building Fund at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, 1727 Chinquapin Grove Road, Bluff City, TN 37618, in Terry’s honor.
