Marilyn A. Trivette, 65, of Hampton, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from her residence, following an extended illness. Marilyn was born in Carter County to the late Floyd and Flossie McAninch Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Metcalf, and two brothers, Terry Morris and Leroy Morris.
Marilyn retired as a church secretary and was a member of Bible Baptist Church, where she had taught the Children’s Church. She loved spending time with her family and being around people.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 48 years, William R. Trivette, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Trivette, of Johnson City, and Lisa Grimes and husband Jerry and a grandson, Jamichael Grimes, all of Johnson City; a sister, Rose Stout, of Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Marilyn A. Trivette will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, August 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at her residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, in the Trivette Cemetery in Avery County, N.C. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and to Trish Reece for the love and care given to Marilyn during her illness.
