Do you have a great beard or mustache? Do you love facial hair? If so you need to attend the 2nd Annual Beardserker Beard Battle 2016.
Come and strut your stuff all for a great cause. Proceeds will benefit Sarah Harrison and Sarah’s Smile to help pay for her dental expenses. We feel sure her story will inspire you to participate and give!
The event will take place at Hyperion Grill, 1759 East Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville, Tennessee on Saturday, November 27 at 7:00 pm. Beardsmen from around the region will compete for one of the four prestigious titles of Most Bad A** Beard; Magnificent Moustache; Most Far-out Beard, and Partial My A** Beard. Entry fee is $15 or you can pre-register for $10.
The competition is presented by Beardserker Beard and Body Co., which has been recently named the official beard care of East Tennessee Beard Alliance. Beardserker Beard and Body Co. began in 2015 and is locally owned by Jason and Brandy Ripley. They offer beard care products, body washes, body lotions and hair care products for both men and women. In 2015 the first Beardserker Beard Battle raised money for the local Honor Guard. They also hosted the “Beardserker’s for Books” drive last year and raised money for less fortunate kids to be able to buy books at the book fair. The Ripley’s are proud to host this benefit for Sarah and her “smile” this year. Sponsors for this year’s battle will be Patriot Barber Shop, Silver Star Designs, Artistic Printers, Craven Ink, Wild Haire Jackalope Brand, Crystal Jessee Attorney at Law, Lost Mountain Wood Spirits, and Hyperion Bar and Grill.
Sarah was born with a very rare chromosome disorder, Trisomy 14q, and a diaphragmatic hernia, she was given less than 10% chance to live. Her family was told she would never live past 6 months old and, if she did live, would never walk or talk. Now, at the age of 26, through surgeries, therapies, love, and the grace of God Sarah has thrived and blessed so many people. Sarah’s smile lights up a room…or it did until recently when after many hours of surgery and insurance refusal left her with metal posts in her mouth and a huge bill… but no teeth. Knowing Sarah desperately needed her teeth so she could chew, swallow, talk and SMILE, her family took on the huge task of paying the $28,000 bill to get the plates with her teeth. After they paid the first $9,333, generous supporters donated over $7,000 through this Plumfund site: http://www.plumfund.com/medical-fund/sarah-smiles to go toward the second payment. Now, Brandy and Jason Ripley are sponsoring Sarah through their super fun event to raise the rest of the funds. Karen Harrison, Sarah’s mother, encourages everyone to get involved. “We are so grateful to all the caring individuals who have given. Sarah has her smile and now this Beardserker’s Beard Battle is going to step up and help raise funds to pay for it. Please help us spread the word. Grow some facial hair and compete, or join us at the event to become part of this community effort to restore Sarah’s Smile!”
