Jackie Griffey, age 72, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her residence. Jackie was born in Carter County to the late Okie and Mildred Patterson Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Erwin Griffey; and a brother, Johnny Taylor.
Jackie had worked as a cashier at Save-A-Lot Grocery Store of Elizabethton and was a member of Fellowship Community Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Scottie Erwin Griffey, of Shreveport, LA and Donald Lynn Griffey and wife Jama, of Granite Falls, NC; two daughters, Scarlett Merritt and husband Ron and Rebecca Schultz, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Lynn Hawkins and Ashley Nicole Hartley, both of Granite Falls, NC, Logan Schultz and Amanda Henthorne, both of Elizabethton, Chad Griffey, of Ohio and Joshua Weaver, of Raleigh, NC; five great grandchildren; a sister, Vickie Ferrell, of Elizabethton; and three brothers, Jimmy Taylor, of Maryland, Horton Taylor, of Elizabethton and Benjamin Taylor. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Jackie Griffey will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Ken Houser, officiating. Music will be provided by Vickie Ferrell. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Sunday.
The family will receive friends at the residence at any time.
